Equality Maryland is holding it's annual lobby day on February 12, to advocate for things like marriage equality and transgender-inclusive hate crime legislation. If you're interested even a little bit, please click on the picture to link to the Equality MD website...you can register there to attend. This is also good for any LPP kids who want to see some democracy in action.

This is going to be a slightly different entry than what you're probably used to.

I graduated from THS in 2001, and I'm now a student teacher at another high school. I'm teaching Physics for the first time to high school students.

What would you recommend, in terms of how to teach a Physics class? More labs? Less labs? More real-life problems? More generalized (no numbers) problems? (Less/no homework is NOT an option here, sorry.)

If you went to NASA (Goddard Space Flight Center) on a field trip, would you think that you'd have fun, or would it be boring?

I can't believe that I'm saying this, but I'm having a hard time remembering how I reacted to most things in my high school Physics class.

Filing Harassment Complaints

Apr. 30th, 2006 | 08:49 pm
posted by: dharma_dream in towson_hs

In the wake of Day of Silence, a few students have mentioned instances during Breaking the Silence week where they were called things like "fag" "faggot" or "queer", and in some cases even had things thrown at them.

The Student Handbook recognizes that these things are not normal and are in fact abusive, and can be classified as category I, II, and III offenses.

If you were made fun of, pestered or think you may have been abused during your time being silent, or, if you witnessed any of these occurences, please do not hesitate to fill out a harassment report in the main office before or after school.

As of now, I'm planning to write out a letter from the concerned school body to the administration regarding the inaction of faculty to stop these incidents when they happened, and subsequent failure to report them. I'm asking for your support and encouragement for abused classmates to remember that they do not have to be silent, but can in fact report this and demand that charges be placed against their abusers.

If your teachers were to (purely hypothetically) keel over tomorrow, what would you put on their gravestone? Feel free to make it as inside of a joke as you want.
Baker: He said please.
Zeleny: Professional Ninja
Leifert: Lover of 16-year-old birthday boys
Brotman: He dealt with it.
Robson: Bye, guy.
Stange: [I'm just not going to do this one because no such epitath could sum him up]
